Fawning Barnby SJCarterComment by ajschel: I very much like what you did with the colours, it is different from what I've seen thus far. How did you do it? The composition is effective and the sides of the barn are very well lined up, with the front corner 'sticking out'. |

Fawning Barnby SJCarterComment by Jutilda: Oh this is neat. I like the semi-desat. You know how much I love old buildings. The wood has such great character. Really nice shot. |

Swinging Foot Bridge Entranceby SJCarterComment by cheekymunky: this is an excellent shot, the perpsective exaggerate the ricketyness (making up words now sorry!) of the bridge, which I think you cropped perfectly, if really draws my eye into it. The tones suit the image IMO.
Its a shame about the zig-zags, but as this is just due to processing can be easily fixed and will leave you with a winner!
PS no WAY i'm going across that thing! Message edited by author 2005-09-16 10:46:28. |

Fawning Barnby SJCarterComment by Neuferland: Greetings! First, what is a Fawning Barn?
Second, I like the concept of 1/2 b&W, 1/2 color but you left some color, to me, in strange places and the color that is there doesn't stand out very much against the b&w part. On the back left corner of the barn you can still see the gree of the trees and grass, a bit distracting, but just a touch. On the barn itself, there is so little color left it almost blends into the background, maybe if you reversed the switch, left the trees and grass green and only did the barn b&w?
Also, while I know the building is leaning a bit on it's own, the overall picture seems slightly tilted to the left, maybe a very slight rotation to the right to balance it out?
Hope this helps! |

Swinging Foot Bridge Entranceby SJCarterComment by taterbug: This is the best of the bunch IMO. I love this shot! That bridge definitely has a lot of character. What an awesome subject. Your chosen pov, and composition is great. Very well done. I really like the treatment here. I think it has a dark, broody, almost sinister feel that matches the subject well. The sky is fitting, and the mountain line creates a very nice vertical that opposes the lines of the bridge in a solid complimentary way. Also, there is a very nice divergence of leading lines between the mountain and bridge. And a good subtle vanishing point. I think there is a good mixture of dark and light, as you view left to right and top to bottom, the image has a good balanced feel to me. Really nice shot here :-) |

Fawning Barnby SJCarterComment by taterbug: Another cool subject. I like the tone in this one. Might be interesting to try the tone from the face of the barn throughout the whole image. Like doing a tri-tone maybe. Very nice. |

Swinging Foot Bridge Entranceby SJCarterComment by tsheets: ok, I am going to go against the majority. I don't really care for the sepia. It looks good on the bridge, but the rest just doesn't speak to me. It's a little dark on the far bank. But, I love the lines, love the bridge, and water as well. The mountains make a really nice backdrop. Maybe a bit heavy on the sharpening. Great shot, Jimmy! |

Fawning Barnby SJCarterComment by tsheets: really cool old building. I think a little bit of the greens/yellows left might add something, but I like it as is. |
