Composition- Content
The overall impact of this picture is great, the expression is strong and it captures the emotion of the subject very well, tells a great story. The person standing on the left of the picture could have been cropped out, but to be honest I didnt notice him at first, just thought it was the darkness of the corner. Eyes are totally drawn to the woman, so the guy standing there doesnt spoil the picture, it would just be better without him there.
Camera Work-Technical
Focus is sharp. The lighting is quite harsh on the right of the picture, but the exposure and lighting on the womans face is perfect. The washed out top right corner almost adds to the blueness of the shawl, but maybe you could try a bit of spot editing to cool it down a bit ( I know its not DPC legal, but this picture would be great framed or used for other competitions where editing is legal)
My Opinion
Its a great capture and the story it tells and emotion of it are beautiful. I think its one of the hardest things to do, capture pure emotion, just did it perfectly! With just a bit more cropping this would be even better. Congrats on 7th place! I hope that you find this helpful!

beautiful shot.. Initially I react to her face, then her hands. She is subtley expressive. The contrasts between the colors of her shawl and the wall make her stand right out, yet gives her placement in her surroundings. I feel sorry for her. She deserves better.
The top right corner is a bit washed out, but not to the detriment of the photo as a whole.

She has a beautiful air to her. The thirds usage is great. The only issue I see is the overblown/over exposed white to the top right. No major big deal. Great photo that caught my eye this week !!!! Shiiizzzam

Initial thoughts
Sweet contents, composition weak.

Composition/ Content
The two little girls are attractive and the candid nature of the shot is appealing. It could be improved with eye contact though that would be difficult to achieve on a candid shot.
I like the way that the yellow colour is echoed in the clothing of both.
In terms of composition I’d rather have their feet/ arms included in shot – as it is the girl on the left is reaching out of shot – I want to see what she is reaching for.
The positioning of their faces within the frame is satisfactory and the line of the kerb balances this out in the lower third of the frame.

Background
The background is somewhat distracting – in particular I dislike the dark leg or pillar behind the girl at the right – it is not a good background for her dark hair colour and it means we lose the strong shape of her head. The other feet in the background are also messy. I do, of course, appreciate that this is only to be expected in a candid shot of this nature – I am expressing this only in terms of what would improve the shot further for me.

Camera Work - Technical
Focus seems a little soft in their faces though perhaps this is an issue of resolution, I am not sure. Colours and light have been captured well.

Fits The Challenge
Without the title it would be hard to relate this to any particular story and perhaps it would be worth exploring candid shots of the crowds which also include the parade. With the title this is certainly the kind of shot I could imagine in a local paper, in terms of content.

Your Opinion On The Photo
I find the image pleasant to look at but not to the extent of being drawn back again and again for further viewing.
