How do I get this little square in there?by STEINRComment by Jacko: Wow. finally a shot with a figurine that I like. Very nice interpretation of the challenge, and cute title. The only thing I'd change, I'm being anal retentive but it really stands out, you should try to make the bottom line parallel to the horizon. Jacko. 8 |

Street Signby STEINRComment by teachme53: "Signs, signs, every where a sign, don't do this, don't do that can't you read the signs". Excuse me if I didn't quote the words to the song properly but that is what popped into my head when I saw your pic. Very good composition, and your choice of Fstop was very important to making this image work. The clarity, colors, the way the lines all work together, and shapes and forms make for a nice all around picture. What is missing is creativity. That something that seperates your work from a winner. The only thing I could suggest is to shoot from a different angle instead of head on. Not knowing the situation or what any other angle might look like, I'm only guessing. Better luck next challenge. JG |

How do I get this little square in there?by STEINRComment by Becky: I like the contents of this photo. Although I believe that this particular photo would have done better in a catagory of shapes. The lighting is a little too dim. All in all its a good picture. |

How do I get this little square in there?by STEINRComment by DougPaz: I really like the colors and composisition here. It would really benefit by using more of the alloted 150kb file size though. That would sharpen it a lot. Probably could use a dose of Neat Image as well. It's really nice but could have been something really special IMHO. |

THE BARN IN GLENWILLOWby STEINRComment by jimmsp: Critique Club Critique
(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) – If the subject was only the barn, then this is very good. However, for a landscape shot, you have the barn too large and prominent in the photo. This would have been much better if you expanded the photo on the right side, keeping the barn on the left side. Then, with the apparent downhill slope, the eye would start on the left, and follow the road and fence down and right. I don’t mind the centered horizon, as the barn is below center.
(2) BACKGROUND – The cloudy skies are a nice plus to this shot.
(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL – Focus and DOF are good. Given the shutter speed you posted, you had more room to pick a smaller aperture (eg f/22) and get better DOF. I don’t know if your camera has an exposure compensation feature you should have used (see below).
(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL – I think this should have brightened in Photoshop ( or the like) using the levels command. With the snow, your camera probably underexposed the original that you should have corrected for. The shadows show, so there is plenty of sun.
(5) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO – A good picture of a barn that would have become a very good landscape with 1) more area on the right, and 2) a brightening of the picture.

Street Signby STEINRComment by Silver Fox: everything looks really busy. Lots of signs to show. Any way you could have shown the sign behind the front one? |
