It is a shame that this scored so low, as it is an excellent picture. I guess I can understand why people may have thought it a stretch for HSH, but knowing how communities take pride in festivals of this sort, I can see it. Here in my town, Folkmoot, and international festival is held every year, and now Waynesville, NC and Folkmoot are almost synonomous. I assumed the same was true of your picture. However, many people seem to have interpreted the topic as a physical dwelling, and shots like yours would have been voted down.

Technically, this is a very well done shot. I really like how you have cropped/framed it as the larger balloon on the left balances the one higher and on the right. The focus is good, and you have used the available lighting to your benefit, I believe.

Like someone below mentioned, these colors beg to scream. Maybe if you could boost the saturation, ever so slightly, to make them really stand out, it would really be effective. Nevertheless, this is an awesome shot, and any balloon enthusiast would probably enjoy having it as a print.

I realize people prefer to set up shots like this with no visible human intervention but it looks a bit odd to me like the pitcher is suspended in mid-air rather than being poured. I think with more of a tilt downwards this impression would be reduced without introducing the hand. I also personally would not have minded the hand showing.

I like the choice of mug/pitcher in terms of their attractiveness, and the pale but slightly patterned (if only by shadow) background, and the contrast between them. The concept is sound. There's maybe a little too much negative space below the cup to balance the top out well.

I like this simple composition and the mug and pitcher are interesting to look at as is the shaded background. I do however, wish your colors were more saturated and brighter. The liquid itself, which should be prominent is uninteresting and lackluster.

Piano sound is one of my favorites. Here I like the highlight on the lot of the black keys contrasting with the shadow of their sides. The fingers playing are good with the theme - howver I think the blurry hand inthe background distracts from the forground one and we canm;t see that it is playing at all. I'd have a bettwer view of both hands or just the one hand. The white space on the left and the blurred part of the piano on the left also pull the eye away from the subject. You could crop in closer, or recompose the subject by photgraphing over the player's shoulder and have the keyboard and hands fill the frame.

Nice shot. I like the grainyness of the shadows. Reminds me of the 'Kitchen Guest' in the Fauna challenge. The shadow effect is similar, but the pottery is different. 8

I think you should have left less room at the bottom and included more at the top. Neat picture though.
