Hard Rain Over Coney Islandby Nikolai1024Comment by SJCarter: This isn't a shot that really grabs me, yet I do think there are aspects that are noteworthy. I think it's great of the actual rain. Not sure what the protruding object is in the bottom of the photograph - a rain gauge? Also, the light is distracting - too bright and invasive. Like I said though - it's still a somewhat pleasing shot and a difficult one to comment on. |

Hard Rain Over Coney Islandby Nikolai1024Comment by cpanaioti: The composition seems to work however the bright area in the top left is very distracting as is the underexposed tower. Exposing more for the tower and cropping out the upper left corner I think would have worked better. |

The Canvasby Nikolai1024Comment by TooCool: I guess I don't get what the illusion is supposed to be. This shot looks like it is supposed to be centered, but isn't. It's also very flat. Some side lighting would at least have brought some depth to the frame. I'm afraid it just ain't very interesting...

The Canvasby Nikolai1024Comment by CEJ: Where/what is the illusion? Certainly not your post processing?? Am I missing something? |

1846by Nikolai1024Comment by macrothing: 6 - Met the Challenge (in my opinion, a little odd way seeing as it also depicts any time since your year, but a photo put in to a time capsule would depict (I'm guessing the year it was built?) the architecture/religion/etc of the time/era for future generations). Criticism; not much at all, it is a good shot within a church, but the one nitpick would be the ceiling lights, re 'authenticity'. Like the reflection on the floor (which I am guessing is 'authentic 1846), the colors are very nice, the lighting is good, specially within a place such as a church, and you captured the leadlighting very well. Good 'mouse angle'. Up to 6 from 5, more if it just captured more of the 'essence' of the year/era (and the lights were cropped), but that is JUST my opinion re the Challenge. |

The Canvasby Nikolai1024Comment by HBunch: The frame appears to be a bit crooked. I'm not sure what the illusion is since we can see it's a picture frame hanging on a wall over top of some wall paper stuff. Unless that's not what it is, I supose. Focus is a bit soft. lighting appears ok to me. wish that maybe the frame weren't directly in the center of the image. seems to be lacking something to make it more visually appealing. Technically ok though. ~Heather~ |
