This photo is just too busy to really make this group portrait effective. Either limiting the DOF or moving them out to the beach would have probably been better. The on-camera flash is apparent with everyone as well. It's nice to have the flash to fill the shadows in the middle of the day but I don't find them very effective at lighting up a subject.

Great subjects! Personally tho I would have cropped out the right side of the photo to bring the men into the main focus of the shot. The blue of the water, for me, draws my eye away from them.

The pot is certainly out of time to the present, but it isn't apparent that it is out of time to any of the other elements in the environment of the shot. As to the picture, I wish there had been a little deeper DOF to keep the cups in focus, the lighting on the pot is too harsh, and (while they may have been intentional) the reflections on the background above and behind the pot don't work for me.

Yep. This is definitely a great portrayal of today's pop culture. I'm disappointed that this one only scored 5.3 because I think it truly is much better than that. Looks like you might have a "Chains" photo in there somewhere too :)
