Morning Primrosesby pinbackComment by HBunch: I don't think I've ever seen these before. They are quite pretty. The DOF and focus works very nicely in my opinion. I like how it goes from bottom right up. the detail you show us in the leaf on the very bottom is quite nice. I like the colors. the yellow/white/green works well. Nice shot. ~Heather~ |

The crumbliest, flakiest milk chocolate in the world...by pinbackComment by jmsetzler: Greetings from the Critique Club :)
Hi Pinback...
The detail and lighting in this image do a wonderful job of enhancing the 'flavor' in this photo. The closeup view gives me the ability to 'smell' this chocolate and it looks delicious :)
As I mentioned in my earlier comment, I think there could be several different lighting options for this photo and I wonder if you have explored any of those during this shoot?
The only issue I see with this photo is the background... there is a visible crease in the background, but it's very subtle... I think a minor level adjustment would clear that right out without losing much at all...
Keep up the great work :)

Morning Primrosesby pinbackComment by BJ: Good job on composition, but I think the flowers in the foreground should be more in focus. Also perhaps a bit more color or contrast ? |

Flowers In The Rain by pinbackComment by pinback: Thanks to all for the kind comments. Can't believe I got second!
OK, I'll come clean - the rain isn't real, it was produced by a garden sprinkler. Hope that doesn't spoil it for anybody.
The blurring of the rain is due to the shutter speed of 1/125. The slant on the rain is largely due to the wind, though - it was a pretty breezy day and I had a few shots spoiled because the flowers were moving.
The 'rain' shows up well because it's backlit by the sun - I think this would have been even more effective if I'd shot it early in the morning (which I'm going to try soon). I used an Olympus B-300 1.7x Teleconverter and my camera on maximum optical zoom to avoid getting wet :-) The camera was positioned on my tripod. Message edited by author 2003-04-29 16:56:40. |

Morning Primrosesby pinbackComment by kiwiness: Green, yellow and white complement each other very well and you 've taken full advantage of this. I've always wondered what primroses look like and now I know thank you - Gary. |
