The Great Smoky Mountainsby DougPazComment by graphicfunk: from the critique club:
A very difficult image to capture and in a scale of 1 to 10 you get an 8. The quality of this shooting is dependent on the strength of the sun and the opaqueness of the clouds. These variations change the contrast swing in these images. Many people miss the point with these images because they expect to see just a little more contrast, but when they stand physically at this vantage point, there is only a serene vastness with no eye squinting. It is like shooting on a cloudy day. I even named my implied lines, "cloudy day" and they asked me for more contrast. lol
The image is certainly a very good visual. There is a sense of depth and an acute sense of distance. The only minor item that breaks the spell is the white trail at the very top and to the right of the image.
The eye sweeps up and finds the left perfect but as the eyes travel towards the right it is jolted from the serene state. I suggest that after the use of any tool that the image be brought up tp 300 for close examination. here I would have simply cloned the area smooth.
But, even with this tiny flaw the image is lovely to look at because the image has enough interest to charm the viewer. You did a veru nice job. |

Solo Concertoby DougPazComment by graphicfunk: returning for comments.
This is no place for this lovely instrument. If the desire to present it like this persist i would advise to drape the table with a nice cloth. Bumping up because despite the table I like the composition. |

The Great Smoky Mountainsby DougPazComment by geewhy: They`ve certainly earned their name, going by your picture.
Beautiful gradiations.
It`s probably been mentioned but there`s a small halo type line showing above your last mountain ridge...it doesn`t look like oversharpening..more like a "magic wand" selection which wasn`t quite tight enough?
It`s a minor nitpick in an otherwise lovely image.
Well done and good luck. |

The Great Smoky Mountainsby DougPazComment by redmoon: This is a lovely scenery shot, though it doesn't feel, erm, full enough. the colours, shades, contrast feels just a bit too muted. i realise it's because of the mist, and the mist does add that kind of ambience, but i feel a little more contrast would bring it more alive. still very very nice though, bumping up to 6. |
