Good pose you captured there, with the head in profile and one foot lifted - really gives the viewer the sense of action, even though it can't ever be anything but a static shot. I put a piece of paper at the top to get a sense of what it would look like cropped, as another commenter suggested you might do - it is possible with the crop that the goose may have been more visually isolated, without the contrasting background drawing the eye away.

I love the quirky nature of this subject. I think this crispness is wonderful. I think it would have done well in the 'bird' image and clearly it got lost amongst the landscapes in this challenge.
