Comment by gaurawa:
the background here is getting more attention than the rock itself. I think a b/w converted image of this should look a lot nicer as it could possibly make the subject come out...

Nice colors but the white thing and the reflection on the left is distracting. If you were trying to incoorporate the white thing as paper I think you missed. Much better if you can lose that.

The image seems rather cluttered. A shallower DOF may have helped you to reduce the clutter and emphasize the subject.

I hate to sound negative, but I don't feel that you've brought much to this shot apart from shooting what's in front of you. Anyone standing here could produce the same photo. You need to try a viewpoint that enhances your subject. Getting much closer, and using the sunlight to show more definitiuon (by moving around the rock) would help. A low viewpoint may add drama to the rock's size, etc. This background is way too busy and holds little interest for the viewer.

the bright light on the RHS really spoils the composition and would look better with the levels brought up.

Good idea, but first, the picture really needs to be larger. Also, the strong light on the right side needed to be dealt with. Adding some contrast would really help too. The focus isn't good. I hope you keep trying (and I hope you have fun).

Not bad from what I can tell but images tend to have more impact if you use the maximum dimentions when posting..
