I like your use of negative space and rule of thirds, but I feel as if something is missing. Maybe I'm used to being wowed with lots of post editing. Hmmmm - I think I'd work some burn on the texture of the wall behind the boy. I might even have him scoot up a bit, so there is a shadow behind him. Good focus and certainly meets the challenge.
