Fire Lane: a pencil of a ho[r]seby antonabayaComment by just-married: UPDATE: Okay, so given all of the hullabaloo on the forums about pencil-dicked horses, I now see the error of my thinking. So, despite the fact that I still don't think this meets the challenge, I thought I would offer some thoughts on the composition: both the sign and the red/white strap pull my eye away from the "pencil" -- so much in fact, that I didn't even notice it upon first viewing. The sign is unfortunate. That happened to be where the horse stopped. The strap could maybe have been avoided by crouching for a slighly lower upward angle. I would also like to see the horses tail in the photo, but of course there may be other stuff cropped out with it. Sorry, score was unaffected by my enlightenment. ORIGINAL: I looked and looked and looked, but I just don't see it. 3 |

Desperate Submissionby antonabayaComment by antonabaya: Thanks for the great comments. There were a lot of raves and rants. Most of the rants did not see the depth of the photo. Composition was not an issue when I made this photo as it was more for the theme. One person commented on the picture making him think and that was cool. It is a NEW relationship and a new dorm too. It's also a new camera and a new photon light (just celebrated my bday). Last but not least, its my first submission on the site. I hope to give beautiful photos in the weeks to come. Thanks all! -anton ps. this was one of many other "new" photos with the same lighting effect. I also had black backgrounds. they were boring, I liked this one the most as it added a lot of depth to the photo -- rather than a plain overcomposed photo, this seemed shot out of the blue. |

Desperate Submissionby antonabayaComment by Gracious: Using the word "new" has some impact. I'm thinking that something else in this image must be new too. This is a photo that makes you think, and search. That's not a bad thing. I like stuff that makes me think...:-) thanks! I think this is a new relationship between the two people. Perhaps even a new dorm room. I'd like to hear about it...and will look to see after the challenge. One thing that is interesting here is the "ghost-like" view of the person in sandals. Slow exposure...Cool! My complaint? The cut off head. Ohhh another thing I DO like is the wood-tones of the furniture. |
