Comment by Lydia:
The lack of emotion here does not lead me to say "beautiful" when I describe this image.

It's a good image... It just doesn't say "beautiful" to me.

If I were to describe it (which is how I judge whether my entry fits the current challenge), I'd include "fake", "cold", "stern"...

But, I wouldn't come up with "beauty" if I didn't already know the challenge.

I hate to say it, but I'd want you to say it to me. Really. 5

There looks to be a lot of softness on the castle walls which is either because of the sensor or compression or both. The composition is nice, but the quality of the pixels is letting it down in my eyes.

The skyscape - way too dramatic - for my taste, at least.

Comment by streetpigeon:
The enormous windows here function to let in the radiance of the day, which opens up the soaring architecture. The black and white treatment works well. The standing man firms up the scale, yet there's a door in the far distant wall that's seemingly appropriate for Alice in Wonderland. A vacation-style photo that glows.

Compelling, but there is an overall lack of deep blacks. The person doesn't add much to the frame- the tiny door shows the scale of the architecture, so there is no need for the person. In fact, without the person in the frame, the architecture looks even bigger.
