Midnight Passionby SpizzerComment by Antsy: Great idea! I wish the forks stood out more but I guess that's hard to achieve with the little freedom under minimal editing rules. Good luck. This should do you well. |

The Copyist (Match)by SpizzerComment by Melethia: This is beautiful! I very much like the muted color palette and the warmth of it. It would have done fine in the challenge, but I also really like the shot you entered in Motion Panning. |

Midnight Passionby SpizzerComment by Cantique: Cool concept. I'm wondering how this would look just a tad brighter. I think it would still fit the category and would be more striking. |

The Carouselby SpizzerComment by dahkota: I love this image. Many people have a particular mind-set when approaching a challenge subject. I think this fit outside their mind set. Their bad, not yours. The composition, the colors, the motion, all set this image apart from most others. You did a great job. BTW - next time you're in DC, drop me a line we can go out shooting... |

The Carouselby SpizzerComment by Spizzer: Note: I want to thank you all for the comments. I would like to point out that I assure you this was panned. It was a tele lens at 1/4 second. If you look carefully just above the girl's head, I cropped off a distracting light that was stretched across a large part of the picture giving you an idea of how much this was panned. I left a little of it just so I didn't have to crop her head too much. I really enjoy these kind of shots. |

Midnight Passionby SpizzerComment by cogerox: Good one! Was your wife pissed about the fork? Boy, did I just make some assumptions.:>) Good composition. Lighting could be a bit brighter on the forks. |

The Carouselby SpizzerComment by plastictv: Originally posted by aimeethetoo: The foreground is certainly separate from the background. I have not read that the foreground must be in crisp focus for an image to truly be motion panning but judging by the scores in this challenge that is the very narrow perpective held by the majority of voters. Maybe they are technically right - who knows - who cares. I love the artistry of this image and think it rocks & is under rated. Keep up the good work! |
i totally agree! Jeileen, there's definitely motion panning here, otherwise the degrees of blurness wouldn't be different between the foreground and the background. Although the perception of beauty is a very individual thing, holding fast to hard rules is not what makes photography exciting. |
