Bashby NovaTigerComment by Ann: Interesting subject. The composition's good, although I might have cropped off the rightmost part (but that's just opinion). The thing that's going to hurt the most scorewise is the focus. There isn't anything in the shot that's quite in focus. I'm just guessing, but since it's a cloudy day and your subject is moving, you might have needed a bit faster shutter speed. But hey, how many knights in action do we get to see on DPC??? |

Bashby NovaTigerComment by aerogurl: the subject is not clearly in focus, and the background doesnt have enough blur to make the foreground subject stand out. the subject isnt that interesting.. it doesnt have any Wham to it (unless he hits you with that stick hehe). the crop is good tho, the placement of the subject is good.. its just not a strong image for a free study. |

Still Watersby NovaTigerComment by atupdate: Hello from the Critique Club,
My initial impression when I first viewed this image was "What is the focal point of this image?" The left side of the image has some lawn furniture and the right side has some light/colors that seem interesting. With these competing subjects, my eyes went back and forth trying to find a place to stay a while and explore. You need to decide which part of the image is most important to you and crop accordingly. For me, I would crop off the left side of the image and focus on the light and color and how it plays off the water and grass. I would also crop off all of the ground at the bottom of the image, up to the tall grass currently located at the right lower edge of the image. This tall grass when located at the bottom right corner provided a nice anchor for this scene.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions regarding this critique.
Tim

Still Watersby NovaTigerComment by Jewelly: The lighting is neat, but I am having a little trouble knowing what I am seeing. All I can make out is the chairs. But I really like how you capured the sun rays. |

Still Watersby NovaTigerComment by roz: you've turned something probably quite ordinary into something exceptional ... great colours, lighting, contrasts and composition ... =8 |
