I really like your DOF. I've never noticed the beautiful "wrapping" texture in the bud of a California poppy. My only suggestion would be to get the whole bud in the shot -- as I recall, they come to a neat point which would add some more visual interest (IMNSHO). Maybe put the bud on the diagonal? Lovely colors and forms in the background.

Fantastic edit. I originally read your title as "Paris edit" and that reflects the feel that I got from this version - an old snapshot from a Parisian couple's album of a beach day on holiday.
