nice image, probably a very spiritual place, but it doesn't show in the photo, lighting and focus is good, but I think the composition would have been better if the doorway in the end eould have been to the far right in the image and not in the center, that way you would have shown more of the flowers and in to the arches where they are.

Light and shadowby MelethiaComment by DanSig: [[trading post]]
since this is free study you can enter anything, I was amazed at how high this image scored as the subject isn't that interesting.
I think the title helped alot in geting that score, just to let people know you were photographing lights and shadows and not some vase was smart.
to get on the level where you start looking at light and shadow without looking at the subject is a big step in photography and art study, it shows that you are getting in touch with your artistic side and that's a good thing. |

Parade vendors appeal to all agesby MelethiaComment by DanSig: [[trading post]]
this is not a good image, I had to check your profile to see if you were male or female, because this looks like a shot a male teenager would do, just to look at the womans behind ;)
the composition is ok, I like the way that baby is looking at spongebob squarepants but that's it, the rest is pretty bad.
but we all enter a bad picture from time to time ;) |

Delightfully Psychotic Cyclistsby MelethiaComment by chalice: I like this photo, especially the three cyclists in a row. The title was fine with me (virtually all titles in this challenge are a stretch for movie titles). Good angle and capture. It's not easy to time action shots, even with rapid fire capabilities. I thought the focus was not too crisp, though. Maybe a different f-stop and a bit slower speed would have worked better (1/500?). In the sunlight was ISO400 necessary? I don't actually know, because I haven't made any sports shots myself. |

Mission San Jose, founded 1720by MelethiaComment by chalice: I think the floor area in this photo is a bit washed out. I think a bit more darkening would have solved that and given the whole picture more crispness. I might have cropped out the little piece in the upper right hand corner because my eye keeps going up there and that is not the focal point of the photo. Composition is otherwise excellent. The colors are good, the subject matter is intriguing, and the photo has even more potential. Judging by the scores, I think I might be more critical than most voters who seem to like it even more. |
