Oviv oroby MelethiaComment by posthumous: oh, and not just juxtaposed, but intermingling walking around and through each other... great! |

Oviv oroby MelethiaComment by posthumous: I didn't get it at thumbnail size. I thought it was going to be just another reflection shot (which I often find irresistible anyway), but now I get it... the juxtaposition of the private world (Victoria's secret) with the public square. Of course, it's a public mock-up of the private world, but juxtaposed like this it seems truly private, truly intimate, and in its juxtaposition, obscene. A simple but powerful idea, like toilet paper. |

Feel Like a Kid Againby MelethiaComment by Melethia: Originally posted by bod: This picture is haunting me now.
Not because of Don's comments :D - well actually it is one of his comments ... the mention of Hitchcock has for some reason set the theme tune to 'Tales of the Unexpected' playing in my head. Even though that was in colour and nothing to do with Hitchcock!
It was a fairground style tune though, and I guess that's my brain just picking up a reference from my youth to match the retro atmosphere, and this photo has that in abundance.
God I hope this makes sense. I came back intending to leave a better comment but I'm not sure I succeeded : ) |
I do think you succeeded. The fact that the picture has brought about differing opinions, references, and strangely, Hitchcockian inferences, means that it's more than just a nice snapshot. It's always interesting to me how different people interpret the same thing, and I'm pleased the "retro" aspect came through, despite the tread on her shoes. And for the record, yours was the one I saw in the challenge that made me say "Gosh, I thought mine was pretty good, but this is better!" for the sheer emotion of it. And I didn't realize these shots were cliche, but I really don't get out much. :-) |
