This is a lovely composition, Deb. You'll make good use of that macro lens, for sure.

Oh how I love this photo. I love how you have shown the person without a face. Somehow, it makes it more personal. . .maybe more universally appealing for some reason. The photo touches me because I see the same look in the eyes of the geese and ducks that I see on "my" geese and ducks at the park every day. They are almost like beloved pets. The black and white processing also gives the photo that urban look that I love so much. I just keep looking at it, and I like it more, the more I look :)

I think your EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro is relatively new. It is a nice lens, a very very good choice & fits within your canon system. I am little disappointed because I know you were researching & considering some other optical variations for this format. I am positive you will use the canon 100mm well, but for some inconsequential reason, I thought you might opt for something different.
My recommendation is to buy that LR trial your playing with. This is good.

It really shows classic old hardwork , plus good contrast. good idea doing it in black and white.

The DOF in your photo is perfect. The duck is the obvious subject, and it is perfectly in focus, and perfectly exposed. Everything else just plays a supporting roll adding highlights and lines of interest. Great photo of the south end of a north bound duck;-)

This photo is very nice but i would love to have seen the mans hand being still not in motion. It steals the emphasis of the photo.
