Thanks to all who have "defended" my whimsical "illusion of scale", and understood that it is a thought-out image, not a stuffed-in one. It's not in my nature to do "set-ups"; I photograph what I see, only very rarely creating something for the purposes of a challenge. I sometimes arrange things (like peppers and cilantro, or a sculpture in a refrigerator) but can't recall offhand ever having created an entire shot for DPC.

I too was mildly suprised this didn't do a bit better; I thought it was an interesting "illusion" and a creative one. But so it goes.

As for those who commented negatively on the "noise", there IS NO NOISE IN THIS SHOT! That's blue metalflake paint... I have seen few better examples than this shot of the absurd, knee-jerk reaction against "noise" in DPC... Geesh... Better not photograph metalflake paint any more, it's too noisy...

I recognized it as the grill of an auto, understood the illusion as it being like an apartment building, scored it high, and am surprised that it did not place in at least the top quarter or better. It's a good photo.

Those who couldn't see the illusion here are either blind or lacking imagination, or even worse, plain dumb stupid. I liked the treatment as well as the idea. Reminded me of the watergate in DC, somehow. My sympathies that this didn't do as well, but I hope to keep seeing such individualistic images.
