This is one of my favorite types of flower photo. You have a new bud, a fully open bloom and a finished bloom all in the same shot, and in their natural setting. Its like what the 18th century horticultural illustrations were trying to do but without the artifice.

Maybe a little jumbled behind the finished flower, but a beautiful shot.

Interesting shapes in the light and dark colours allow you to use your imagination to see what you will. Very selective DOF achieves effective focal point to draw the eye into the shot and then follow up into the darkness and around, circling back to the beginning again.
