iAfricaby ubiqueComment by herfotoman: So much more than the originals. The wildness, the strength, Africa. Marvelous.

You Are Hereby ubiqueComment by daisydavid: Firstly, thank you Paul, your eloquence of delivery is always exceptional. I struggle to make a coherent comment as usual, the beer helped until it ran out. I wanted to look at the essay as a whole, so I started with the idea that this is an Escher type work where the words interplay with the pictures, taking turns as to which one was more prominent for a 'now' interpretation. But then I remembered Susan and I wanted more beer and more Susan, and I still want more Paul ;). Never trust the teller, trust the tale. |

You Are Hereby ubiqueComment by LevT: wonderful essay, Paul. Provocative, and therefore thought-provoking. I don't know what I enjoyed more, the words or the photos. I guess both, together, they are too tightly intertwined. I love your "roughhouse" approach to street photography even though it is indeed different from mine. I wanted to take issue with your dismissal of Bresson-Winogrand-Erwitt-documentary photography (which by the way is not really documentary at the core) but I saw that insteps already did it for me, so I'll just second it :). Besides I suspect it was only a half-joking dismissal, after all. |

You Are Hereby ubiqueComment by pixelpig: I enjoyed reading it again. I like illustrated words. I spent the last hour writing a long thing in reaction to it & then deleted it, which was fun. Thanks! |

You Are Hereby ubiqueComment by mariuca: Paul, not all improvisational theaters have same quality. Your is one of a kind.
Street photography is about showing up with nothing in mind and This essay is about what occurred to me ΓΆ€“ what I reacted to
If someone would like again to shake you long and hard to extract more explanations, you just show this magnificent essay of yours.
With your kind permission, and I know that I have it since your essay is in public domain, I might produce it each time I lack "le mot juste", the concision or the sparkle to shed some light on this subject.
I marvel at the image-word coexistence.
I take another snippet: photographer is imposing a transformative personal influence on reality. - we do see what we can according to our internal mechanism - I stand by what I believe: I see, therefore I am a seer. We stand before the same subject that is never really the same for everybody. I am not sure that we influence the reality as you stated but that whatever we call reality has facets and we can never totally absorb it in its entirety. We are both seekers and seers.
I find a privilege, a great joy and a feast for the mind to look at anything you post. |
