I like the "feel" of this photo. My only criticism is that I wish you stood a tiny bit to the left to block out the object behind the bale (on the right side of the frame). I think it is another hay bale in the distance but the reflection on the covering almost makes it look metallic and it kind of detracts from the scene (in my humble opinion).

I like this, a nice portrait. Honestly I would never guessed what the thing was without the title and I wonder if switching focus from him to the BPCC (is there such acronym ? :) would have helped me guessing. However, I really never seen anything like that before, perhaps in other countries it's a pretty common thing in science classes and people will recognize it more readily :)
