That's a hell of a scene, Barry, and well-rendered to boot, not an easy task. The hint of blue is perfect, it would have been much worse without it. BTW, check out my camera list while you're at it. I'll wait for your PM :-)

and wow .. going without power for over five days .. not great ..
we used to lose power a lot where i live .. and when there was a storm we'd fill up bottles and the bath with water just in case .. as when we lost power we dont have anything .. we have a tank for water and a pump that pumps the water into the house .. so when the power goes out ... no water .
fortunately the power doesnt go out as much these days ..
in voting i actually thought the tracks were from some animal .. but now reading your notes i'm thinking it was you going backwards and forwards cutting that tree up .. hope you had stocked up on supplies before the tree came down ..
a positive is good wood the fire tho .. :)

Thanks Roz! The tracks around the tree are us walking up and down the driveway to check out the road and other damage, etc. The tracks in the field are from my son, being smart, and not walking underneath the OTHER large pine trees still carrying snow weight in the driveway. :-)

As for the wood, unfortunately, it's a pine tree and not good for much except for sticky sap and a pain to cut up (which we did the day after this photo). Can't burn it in the fireplace (creosote buildup concerns in the flue).

Thanks! We do have a generator that can keep some basics running (well pump for water, a few outlets, the fridge and freezer). It's bearable, but not pleasant - however, it's survivable and we're grateful for it. :-)

Cool. I hear what you're saying and appreciate the feedback for sure. I guess what I see with the border, in this case, is like a mat you'd put around a framed photo when framing. Wanted a bit more to offset the neutral grey used on the DPC background. It is a very selective choice to make and one used lightly - also knowing that a border does put some people off I did give the choice some consideration.
