Greetings from the critique Club

Oh,what a nice moody image you have here. I love the way you captured the waves crashing against the rocks. And yes, the sea gets us all eventually, doesn't it...

I can see this as a big oil painting, showing the insignificance of man against the sea along with the bleakness of the bluffs on which he stands. But, like a few of the other people who commented on your picture, it would have been nice to see a little more color in the image. Color might have added contrast that makes the isolation stand out even more.

In any event, you have a nice piece here and I enjoyed looking at it.

I see you are in Akureyri! When I visited Iceland a loooong time ago, I was taken with the beauty of your city way up there near the Arctic Circle.

Took me a while to spot the figure, i only kept looking because of the title.
Very striking, but the actual photo is quite flat and doesn't do the subject justice. I think you could have tried to emphasise the figure more with some suggestive dodgin and burning, also i think the whole shot needs a boost in contrast to try and give the waves a more dynamic feel. Nice composition though, with the bowl shape at the bottom of the frame keeping the viewers eyes directed towards the center of the image where the wave then sweeps you towards the person on the edge.
Unfortunately though i think i can only give a 5 because the photo itself doesn't let me go higher i think.

This shot did little for me, until I saw the person on the cliff - for some reason that totally won me over. It softens and makes accessible an otherwise very forbidding coast.

I do think some work with cuves would help to make the colors pop a bit more; it seems almost hazy. But a very nice "man's place in nature" shot.

It's too bad you couldn't have done a little more to bring out the person on top of the cliff. I like the way this image portray's the power of water. Nicely done in that regard. Good luck.

Hi, Greetings from the Critique Club:

Composition:You obviously live in an area that is prevalent for snow. What you need to do is take into account that there are members that don't experience it. So you have to show a little bit more in your image. With that I mean, the chair...doesn't really stand out as a chair. It is lost in the background, which is of the same material. The viewer doesn't really understand the story...there is no surrounds to explain the situation. Maybe include another item to relate to the snow season or show a bit more of the surroundings.

Technical: Your settings, focus and lighting were correct for this image. But as I said before, the composition let you down. Maybe try and being a little more creative....maybe in your PP add a little punch to the wood textures to separate them a bit more.

Overall: This image has lots of room for improvement...and that is good. As once you get perfection you may as well give up....as there is no longer a challenge.
