Taking Holiday Pictures.by docpjvComment by dartompkins: I moved this one around a bit before settling on 8. The trees and silhouettes are very interesting, but I think it would have been better to get a lower angle to include less ground and set the forms of the people more in the lit tree background. I also find the small bits of color visible in the trees and directly down the path a bit distracting. Still very nice and one of the better shots in the challenge. |

Red and White (Remie #4621)by docpjvComment by e301: In amny senses this is a wild improvement on the original, which actually suffers from big technical problems. What you don't have, for me, is the big bright punchy over-exposed feeling (good thing? bad thing? don't know), and this to my eye suffers a bit for that - in a way it's too realistic this, rather than having the disgned edge of the original. As a variation - well, the set-up itself is so very designed, that I'm not certain of the benefits of this approach. |

My Fanby docpjvComment by sailracer_98: Very interesting composition. In my opinion, this shot would be strengthened by some more dynamic lighting. Right now the lighting is kind of flat and pale- like it was lit with an overhead flourescent light and a weak flash for front lighting. Some ideas that I might try to add some lighting interest to the shot are adding a warm side light aimed at the model but avoiding the fan to increase the dynamic range difference between her face and the fan. Alternatively adding a backlight aimed at the fan might give the same result but in a different way.
Nice job with the framing of this shot. I think it is a very strong composition. Good luck. |
