At first glance, I felt like I needed sunglasses to see this.
Then stopped, stared and studied.

A couple things really stand out here.
The 3D effect this has after looking at it for a while, almost not knowing if it's coming at me or going away from me,
and the how evenly lit this is, particularly in the painted ends of the beams.
Impressive.

Nice idea! The snail looks great and I love the edge. I like how one of the antennas is out of focus and seemingly poking right at the viewer.
For me, a table with different colors (to contrast better with the snail) might have worked better?

What a beauty. I like the subject, colors and dof. I think the foreground and area under his head is a bit distracting and pulls the eye off of him a bit. Tough to avoid that though.
