Here comes trouble by wolfComment by wolf: Thanks very much everyone! Happy to see another ribbon and very unexpected. I wasn't super happy Stark was butted up against the edge of the frame. But I liked the wind blowing Nova's hair and Stark stalking her LOL. Lucky dogs indeed on DPC. They are the reason I got back into photography this year after my eldest dog peacefully passed away in June (14.5 yers old). I love to take pictures of them. My old 5DmkII just couldn't keep up with them AF wise, but this R5 is incredible. My wife was the one to suggest we get a new camera and glass as I created Teague's celebration video. The younger pups hardly had any good quality pics. The timing was ideal for mirrorless. Hopefully I can find a balance so I don't saturate the site LOL.

Cole - he is getting on in age and his back legs are getting weak. His time is approaching I fear :'(

Here comes trouble by wolfComment by roz: its a great photo .. and i love how Nova's fur is flying in the wind .. really brings home the environment .. as well as the snow of course ..
and i'm with you on not checking till after rollover .. i find that quite easy if a photo isnt going well .. but when they are going well not so easy .. ;)
anyway .. with so few voters those 4's have a great impact ... some ppl just dont like dogs or insects .. lol ..
congrats on third place with such an endearing shot .. :) |

Lens Flare Outtake #2by wolfComment by wolf: Originally posted by vawendy: I like this one quite a bit better than your blue ribbon one. That one is nice, as well, but the silhouettes looked too dark to me - almost unnaturally darkened to make it a silhouette?
I'm curious, did you lighten this in post processing? Or did you add a flash or reflector?
Thanks! Huge congrats on the blue, and welcome back!! |
vawendy thank you so much. I think if I had more time to recompose with the sun right in the middle I probably would have gone with this one. Didnât have a reflector on me, but the snow somewhat acted like a natural one. I did need to lighten Nova in post (red dog). Stark (white dog) just needed a touch.
