Comment by Anastasia:
Just wonderful, great and simple. I like the shallow DOF and the simple color of the leaf. Did you use softboxes for lighting? Giving you a 10 and I hope it is gonna be one of the winners :-)

You are a pro so no way I will comment on this one. It is a miracle what one can do with a cam. I'm astonished. 10

This is an excellent image - I love everything about it. The color, composition, reflection through the glass. Wow - I hope to someday produce images at a portion of how terrific this one is! The only thing that bugs me is the little spot of lighting near the top, but I didn't notice it until after 3 times of going back to this image.

How beautiful is this! I love the rushing water, I can almost 'hear' it in this photo. Wonderfully done!

Ok, for those that wish to know how this was done, here goes... It's really nothing more than a pimped out version of an old parlour trick. The one where you take a lighter and roll the wheel slowly so as not to ignite the flint, then tap the flint onto a flame or other heat source and it will "explode" in midair like you see here. It took me over 50 frames to get everything right. 1/2 second exposures made the timing rather tricky. The full frame version (much more interesting, if you ask me) can be seen here: //www.pbase.com/image/21357553/original

I wasn't there to vote or see this when the challenge was on, but reading your explanations, I find this very well thought out and executed. In French, my first language, people are green with fear, or cold. Maybe many people's first language is not English? Anyhow, this is very intense and interesting.

I do like it a lot! Do you mean that the first image is the bg? This is very good.

A drop of water added close to the wick? This is very cool.
