One way I judge images is this....

If someone who didn't know the theme of the challenge looked at your image, could they figure out the "message" you were trying to get accross? The answer to that quistion with this image is simply, no! Nobody would know that you are trying to represent Pain with this image. Beautiful shot, but probably will score low this challenge.

Sorry, I don't see what is painful about a sunset. Great pic of a sunset though. Just doesn't evoke much emotion either way.
