simplicityby WinterbergComment by claudia26: the straight shadow across the forehead is a bit too much , I very much like the soft shadow across the face and the overall mood and colors |

The mouth and lips are very well expressed with higlights that play on the tip of the nose and then makes the lips glisten. The values are very well represented in their respective zones and the entire image including twirling hair, frock, hat and background all help create a keen and colorful character study. Bumping up. |

simplicityby WinterbergComment by Skip: i don't know anything about portraiture, so i'm using your image as a guinnea pig as to what i think i would or wouldn't do in this situation, as well as what i notice and get out of your image.
my initial reaction is "what happened to this wonderful image?" i guess you're wearing a black hat? i don't know why. the lighting is great, the tones are warm, you've really captured your eyes...could you have done this without the hat? all of that undefined black space at the top just sits so heavy on what could be a killer image. right now, when i crop the top 30-35% and the left 20% off, i see an amazing portrait. but then again, what the hell do i know? i shoot bugs and sunsets and blurry taxis. good luck! |

simplicityby WinterbergComment by dsa157: great lighting. I would prefer a slightly tighter crop given all that negative space at the top of the frame. |
