FEBRUARY by bladComment by mpeters: my .02...
It looks like you may have shot this from a bridge. Something to think about... With wider angle shots, it is important to draw in the viewer, give them a real feel for the place. We can't hear the water or feel the cold so visually you need to stimulate those senses. The framing here doesn't give me a real sense of what you were seeing/feeling. I'm sure you didn't want wet feet but maybe you could have scrambled down to the side of the river to change the perspective. It's a gray winter day so there isn't a lot of drama unless you put the viewer's feet in the water! Make them cold! :) |

St. Croixby bladComment by Yo_Spiff: I like the duotone treatment, detail and sharpness here. It's not coming off to me really great, however. I think it may be the composition. Heavy, eye drawing object at both the top and bottom are maybe pulling my gaze in two directions, rather than toward one main subject. |

St. Croixby bladComment by smudgeSMJ: I think a slightly closer crop on the bottom to eliminate the wood dock would make this appeal more to me. I love the way all the lines in this pic work together to create a feeling of controlled chaos. |
