Now this is very nice and very complicated suiting the challenge on the head. Would have liked a little more contrast. It is the kind of shot I wanted to try, but out here in Jersey City is difficult because of 9/11 security. Bumping up.

It's hard to see all the nice detail on the moose with the backlighting situation. I might try making a mask for the two figures, and then re-adjusting the tone ranges of the subjects and background independently to see if it would bring out more detail without ruining the overall look.

I only rated the photo a 5 in the challenge because I didn't feel the smoke played a "major role" per the challenge requirements. To me, it seemed as if the shot was of a gorgeous sunset and an interesting silhouette - and oh, by the way, there is a smoke stack in it.

That being said, I think the photo is great and you should be proud of it.

Darn....although I'm happy with this spot I was really hoping it would squeeze into the top ten! Take a look at my profile...I made a commitment to hold off on buying a digital slr until I got a top ten photo, but I'm lowering the bar. 12th is good enough for now...
