great idea and way to have a title that forces the viewer to keep looking at the image.

Trading Post comment

Pretty good score for cotton swabs, but then again, Tim ribboned with 'em, so go figure!

It came out pretty sharp and I'd say the colors are pretty good, except I'd have gone with a different background color - it does seem a bit bland of a color. Very good in-camera framing with good lines/balance.

Comment by kirsty_mcn:
i think this would benefit from less foreground, as it takes the attention away from the great sky. Also, a wider/offcentred composition would also have helped this

edit: that sounded really negative! I like the shot, just a couple of things for improvement imho

sorry for lateness

I'm not sure what I think about this one. I think that if I can across it in the challenge I wouldn't have voted it terribly well, but looking at it now I'm beginning to like it a lot more.

The high contrast does play a role I believe, even if it put me off to start with - not sure how to describe it but it does gice a kind of lost, desolate, not-sure-whats-going-on-with-your-life feel to it, which I think is what you were aiming for

I still think the processing went a bit too far though, but it certainly made me think

Cool idea, but I think the color of the background detracts somewhat from the vibrancy of the swabs. I'm not sure what color would be better, though...

Not bad.
Doesn't really interest me at all but it's a well taken shot.

Reading through what you've said, it seems as though you have achieved what you set out to do very well.
The colours and the watery reflections give create the "going into a fire" atmosphere, and the composition seems very balanced. However, if I had seen this in the challenge I doubt I would have voted it high, as I don't really "get it" without the explanation.

Interesting tones and shapes. I don't really understand the title though...
