truck-load-at-duskby clictacameraComment by aliqui: I can appreciate what you were going for, and what a beautiful sunset it must have been. Unfortunately, if you were to look at a histogram for this shot you'd see that the whites and blacks are both clipped. You've got blown highlights in the clouds, and the much of the foreground goes completely black and lacks any detail.
Is this really shot with a camcorder? For a regular DSLR some would recommend a graduated ND filter. That would darken the sky, while still letting you expose properly for the foreground. You could do essentially the same thing in post-processing using gradient filters. Darken from the top, lighten from the bottom.

choosing my favorite seedby clictacameraComment by aliqui: I agree that it does look like an extreme crop, and it is very noisy. With that said, it's still quite funny! The falling seeds are what really makes this shot. It's one of those photos that doesn't need a title to know what's going on. |

itching for a driveby clictacameraComment by bvy: Good idea except a.) the blown out area on the right doesn't add anything and is very distracting, and b.) the car isn't really reflecting anything interesting. |

bouquet on blueby clictacameraComment by timmi: Neat idea and strong colours. Smart use of a car as a background. To make it into a better image, do not chop off the bottom part of the plant and on the left you are getting too close to the edge. Also, the top part being brighter than the rest, throws it out of balance. Perhaps, moving further away from the car, and letting the background go soft, you might have had enough dark space for the plant. If you try this on a cloudy day, it will eliminate the contrast problem between dark and light. |
