Channel-Mixer.jpgby sheapodComment by nico_blue: the first thing i notice is the white fur on the tiger, not sure its a good or bad thing but it def. stands out to me. I think it might be slightly blown out. Seeing your original i would say that this is def. a tough shot to covert to black and white without the aid of levels or curves so I would say as far as tonal range you have a few white, not too many light greys, a lot of dark greys and blacks. Good job with the exercise, now to bring the image to its full potential feel free to go ahead and do levels and curves to improve it. |

Duotone.jpgby sheapodComment by oOWonderBreadOo: I really like this image but I agree the green is a bit much. I would think a grey blue might work well or maybe a blue green. It would be fun to see a green for the shadows and blue with highlights or vice versa! |

Duotone3.jpgby sheapodComment by nathanrye: Wow. This really caught my eye in passing through several photos. Great job with the duotones. I almost feel as if I'm looking in some safari expedition journal from the 1920's. Bravo! |

Duotone2.jpgby sheapodComment by emorgan49: You may not understand what you are doing, but you are doing it perfectly! See how you have reduced the leafy background to just a pattern, almost like a leopard skin, to contrast with the pattern of the tiger? See the lovely bright area on his cheek, matched by a smaller light area on his eye? First you catch the viewer with that cheek, lead him to the eye, then down the nose to the gentle smile, which points back to the lines in the cheek. A circle - keep the viewer looking around and around your photo and he will notice more and more of what you have created. The whiskers, that tigers have small ears, that the background is actually little leaves. |

Duotone3.jpgby sheapodComment by emorgan49: Don't you love how the whiskers stand out? This duotone is a very pleasing color. It is so easy to look at. I think the color choice helps the viewer to get lost in all those stripes. If you look at the zebras suddenly all you see id the pattern of the stripes, not the animal, particularly down where the legs asll blend together ans where the two zebras overlap each other. |

Duotone.jpgby sheapodComment by emorgan49: Green = serene. Yes, that works. I also think this works especially well because it is reversed. We expect the trees to be green but they are white. the infared emphasizes the difference in texture between the leafy foliage and the smooth surface of the water. Interesting that the reflections of the light leaves are actually dark. |
