If you want to add more punch with contrast, levels/curves would be the way to go (though you may avoided those here given the exercise instructions).

Wow. This really caught my eye in passing through several photos. Great job with the duotones. I almost feel as if I'm looking in some safari expedition journal from the 1920's. Bravo!

You may not understand what you are doing, but you are doing it perfectly! See how you have reduced the leafy background to just a pattern, almost like a leopard skin, to contrast with the pattern of the tiger? See the lovely bright area on his cheek, matched by a smaller light area on his eye? First you catch the viewer with that cheek, lead him to the eye, then down the nose to the gentle smile, which points back to the lines in the cheek. A circle - keep the viewer looking around and around your photo and he will notice more and more of what you have created. The whiskers, that tigers have small ears, that the background is actually little leaves.

Don't you love how the whiskers stand out? This duotone is a very pleasing color. It is so easy to look at. I think the color choice helps the viewer to get lost in all those stripes. If you look at the zebras suddenly all you see id the pattern of the stripes, not the animal, particularly down where the legs asll blend together ans where the two zebras overlap each other.

Green = serene. Yes, that works. I also think this works especially well because it is reversed. We expect the trees to be green but they are white. the infared emphasizes the difference in texture between the leafy foliage and the smooth surface of the water. Interesting that the reflections of the light leaves are actually dark.

I like the face this way...makes the hair on the tiger stand out more to me. I just think it looses more detail on the front chest area. Still very nice.

What an awesome subject. I do think that maybe you could pull some more variations out of the darker tones. The animals face, especially around his eye, is very well done.

I love this alot. Duotones work so well with this kind of contrast! I don't think anything could have more contrast than a zebra and we got two !!! The natural placement is really an addition to the shot. I love their whiskers.

I agree that this is the best of the three. The whites are still white, and the blacks are still black. Perhaps a bit more contrast would work well here (and maybe a tighter crop?), but I do like the treatment. Good job.

Same here - while it's certainly not a bad choice to duotone given the already black and white nature of the zebras - I think treatment may be a tad much in the blacks and whites.
