Perhaps a bit overly soft compared to what I would prefer but the pose and the subject work really well. The pose in particular could easily have come across as a little forced but to me it doesn't at all. Nice shot.

This looks more like a movie poster image than many of the ones in the top ten. Hopefully it was just your title (used too many words) that brought this down and not the image itself.

OK, I can accept that the 'a' isn't part of the DPC title, but 'story' as well?

Cool shot and processing. Creative, and a risky DPC entry :) I dig it.

Greetings from the Critique Club Brando.

At first glance I find this a pretty powerful shot. While his condition is definitely sorrowful, it evokes more emotion from me simply because of the smile. If he had a sad look on his face I don't think it work work so well. Your photographers comment using the definition of spirit is spot on.

Composition is good. I do think it would be just a bit better if you had cropped just above his crutches taking the items in the store windows out. They pull your eye towards them and away from the subject. Using my mouse I find the image more powerful scrolling to show just the black windowsills above him. I do like the fact that you didn't crop just below his feet but left a small bit of space. I also wonder how it would look if you moved just a bit to the left during shoot and crop him to the left 1/3 showing more open space to the right.

Overall a good job here and a capture you should be proud of.

Thanks for the opportunity to critique this image Brando.

Cheeers - Phil

A touch too high key. You blew out the detail in the back tire...
