The lighting on the baby is very nice, but the lighting and composition of this effectively put the mother in the background, both actively and figuratively for me. Since this challenge is "Mother", I would prefer to see the mother and baby interacting in some way, and the lighting encompassing the two of them. Yes, I know it's nitpicking, but a first glance at this image says "BABY", and since the two are not interacting in any way, it doesn't really say (to me) "MOTHER AND BABY".

this is a sweet photo..... the soft smile on the moms face - her eyes on her precious.. the baby is sweetfaced..... on a personal level and the comment I am leaving about this is just a preference of mine that it might have been nicer to have them in the same lighting
