The Loves of My Lifeby secondglantzComment by ahaze: The light here looks a bit harsh and unnatural and Mom's bright white shirt takes up more of the frame than it should in my opinion. Perhaps a different arrangement of the subjects- not to mention getting Mom to smile so she doesn't look so incongrouous with her smiling and happy daughter- might make this a more pleasing portrait. |

Symbol for the Timesby secondglantzComment by kearock: Needs more light on the left side of the face. Highlighting one side is fine but it's almost impossible to see the other side here. Having one side be dark might work with a different composition, but I think a straight on face shoot cropped this way demands that the entire face be visible. |

Symbol for the Timesby secondglantzComment by dipaulk: I think it may be a little too dark -- especially around his eye on our right. I don't mind the left side being much darker, but the right side needs to be brighter to bring out some detail. Hope this is helpful :) |

Symbol for the Timesby secondglantzComment by Glen King: Good effort. The fact that half the birds face is in shadow makes this picture hard to interpret. Try treating your subject as if it were a portrait and use a two thirds view from one side or the other. That will show more detail of the bird and a lot more interest to your viewer. |
