old man in his kitchenby SkipComment by Trinity_12_12: I like this shot but I'm not too sure about the position of the old man. I do like the light behind his head and his hand but seating him to one side, perhaps at a table would have shown more of his surroundings and made him look more at ease. On the other hand posing him in such a confrontational pose, makes ME feel uncomfortable and therefore evokes an emotion in me, which is what I think makes a good photograph. The addition of grain adds to the mood and is wonderful. |

old man in his kitchenby SkipComment by bassbone: love the close up of the old man and the positioning of him right in front of the window. the grain really adds a meloncholy feel to this image 7 |

old man in his kitchenby SkipComment by posthumous: Great environmental portrait. Very good backlighting with blocked light source. It surrounds him with blown-out areas of light. Excellent effect. This might work without grain, but the grain is appropriate to the mood and looks "natural", not added on later. 9 |

old man in his kitchenby SkipComment by faery: Tee hee this is what Morgan Freeman's brother looks like... but I expect you've had that comment already. This is so striking. I love the very candid face on pose with the surroundings clearly in view. Photojournalist shot that would do well in "Drum magazine". |

old man in his kitchenby SkipComment by LevT: simple but very effective composition. I like the use of wide-angle lense which makes the kitchne so tiny |
