Composition Good although I feel that the chess board gives the impression that it is tilted!
Camera work Good although the motion blur of the moving pieces has carried itself over to the pawns at the top right corner.

Novel idea very well executed ! I would have preferred more contrast to the background as the pieces in the front blend into the table.

composition -- nicely composed using ROT.
technical -- good even lighting. good focus.
overall impression -- the background isn't very exciting to me, therefore i would've tried to crop closer to the main subject, the animal. maybe a portrait format that keeps the little bits of green in the top right corner in the photo.

I feel that you could have put a little more effort into this picture and helped it a bit. The focus is soft and exposure need some more light. The spots on the wall and the extra piece of metal do not help it at all. A discarded pizza box would have been nice though.
