Didn't get around to commenting when I voted - really liked this one and gave it an 8. I actually like the background noise which I might have called texture - it's subtle and even enough that I did not find it at all distracting :) Congratulations on a very nice finish!

It looks to me like you did an overall sharpening to get the feller to pop more. He looks pretty darn good, but what has happened is the background noise that was probably minimal at the time of capture got brought out to a point of being distracting. I would recommend taking the extra time to select just what you want sharpened, so that other things don't suffer for others' greatness.

Nice shot otherwise. The eye looks fantastic and the overall lighting is really nice.
