Retired and Restoredby SDWComment by posthumous: that grill is freaking me out. it's practically vibrating. it's reaching out from the picture and poking me in the eye. Really odd processing job. Maybe it was a big crop that forced you to blow up the image and reveal some noise? I wonder if you had to crop so much. This composition is rather dull, with the subject filling the frame. Gotta give you a point for that grill, though! |

A good car photo should have a background that enhances the image. The unusual thing about this image is that the difference between the subject and background is so stark, that the background stands out. |

I-C-Eby SDWComment by jblaylockrayner: I think you were very silly to pull it - Not that it would have made a great fence picture but why take it in the first place??
Just my thoughts...

I-C-Eby SDWComment by citymars: Great shot. The fence is such a key element, but it's still about the people. I like how their faces are out of focus -- it's respectful, and also implies a more universal story, making this iconic rather than the story of one arrest. |

I-C-Eby SDWComment by glad2badad: Scott. This is a pretty powerful photograph. Don't know if it's "pretty" enough to have done well in the fences challenge, but it certainly would have fit the theme.
Without the "fences" context, this image still shouts out - "look at me", "what's the story?". The fence with the barbed wire is very symbolic. The lines of the plane fuselage, the steps, and the handrail, all work together to enforce the bg focal point.
Hate to say it, but maybe you should have saved this for the Freestudy? :)
Nicely seen and well captured (intentional focus on the fence or not). |
