I took this picture a while back but placed it in my junk pile. While cleaning my HD of some old picture I took another look at this picture. This time it struck a cord with me, for some reason it seemed to have weight.

Something was there that intrigued me visually. Not having processed this image before I put it in CS3 and done a little tweaking and I began to see subtleties that captured my attention.

Such as the bird, one wing (right) appears to be part of the wave, part of the water. The other wing (left) is sharp at the tip and has no relevance to the water, as to be separate and independent.

Take a close look at the how the gull seems to rise out of the wave. And the trees, only seen by reflection, adds dimension to the photo.

I dedicate this picture to my dad and best friend.

Thanks everyone that for your support by purchasing this and/or any of the other photographs dedicated to my dad while he was sick to help with his medical expenses.

I don't remember ever seeing a motion shot of a solo bird with only one wing tip in focus, almost as if everything else is in another dimension. Unless you have seen this panning effect accomplished more artistically elsewhere, you should probably archive this.

This would have been awesome in the Blur challenge. The colors and lines are wonderful! Maybe title it Flight ?

Definitely a keeper for the abstract or blur folder. Looks great on my monitor. {Not sure if I like the tree-centric title, I prefer to identify the subject on my own.}

I feel that there are 4 things going on in this image. There is one sharp spot, the wing tip, which is near the brightest area of the image. The reflection of the tree offsets that bright area, directing attention to it. The curves and lines in the motion blurred ripples lead to the bird from 2 directions. Good focus for an on the move pan shot.
