What goes up...by graphicfunkComment by MrAkamai: I know what you were trying to achieve but I can still see the black background. Might have been better without the flash and if you used a tripod instead or fiddle with curves/levels to completely blackout the background for the desired effect. |

Lipstick on glass & purple sheetsby graphicfunkComment by Bran-O-Rama: Probably wouldn't have noticed the lipstick on the glass w/o the title and think it would've been much more noticeable on the frontside of the left glass. Did you consider purple lipstick? It is rather subtle the way it's positioned now.
Focus apears soft and image is a cropped a little close to the bottom of the glass. Very busy composition here, not sure what the focus is. I'm immediately drawn to the stems of the wineglasses and the wine itself. Perhaps eliminating a few objects would help i.e. wineglasses on the sheets, covering the pillow. You'd have eliminated the lamp, nightstand, and doily which is 50% of your image. |

Captain George Highlighted.by graphicfunkComment by TooCool: Very nice portrait! Great job of capturing the depth in his face. The colors, especially the skin tones, seem a little flat though. Maybe needs more light? Maybe needs a boost in levels? Making skin tones right is not my forte unfortunately...

Captain George Highlighted.by graphicfunkComment by admart01: One of my top picks this theme. Excellent expression on your model (you've capture warmth and a devilish sense of humor) I would have liked a bit less right elbow. Really like the gray/blue color palete. |

Captain George Highlighted.by graphicfunkComment by David.C: Lighting: The lighting is amoung the best in the challenge, although I would have liked to see it a bit more diffused to try and counter the shine on some parts of his skin. The catchlight in his eyes is just barely noticable, just enough to subtly do its job.
Pose: The pose is good. It and his expression communicate a lot.
Background: The black works well with this and is well done. |
