Fragileby stephanComment by autool: I'd call it heartbreak, nice job. I think I would like more contrast in the shards. 6 |

Fragileby stephanComment by ellamay: Looks like you took great efforts to ste this one up, would of liked to seen it with a black background, though perhaps would of made hard to see glass. |

Fragileby stephanComment by eloise: Is the glass superimposed on the heart in photoshop? They seem disconnected somehow. Also, there's some kind of focus issue going on, IMHO. |

Fragileby stephanComment by pinback: Nice idea. The edges of the glass shards have some jaggies which are a bit distracting for me. Perhaps the sharpening or resizing settings? It might work better with a dark background (then again, it might not :-) |

Fragileby stephanComment by Wes: Really powerful image I like it. The color is done well, not too saturated. The white is really bright, but seems to hvae some tints of blue in it (from passing through the glass) desaturating everything but red might have made this a bit better. Overall though I like it. Well done. |

faith in chaosby stephanComment by wewillexplore: Greetings fromt the Critique Club
Hi Stephan!
Composition
Because your background is almost unseeable, the composition is hard to judge - the ant is nearly centered, but coming into the shot, which is good. I would have preferred an even tighter crop on the ant.
Color
I don't like what you did with this, but that's just my preference. Obviously you had an idea - it wasn't communicated to us because we couldn't see notes during the challenge.
Focus
Off, but you know that (given your comments).
Subject matter
Good choice of subject. I would have preferred the ant doing something, or going somewhere, thought.
Overall
Post-processing kills this for me, but you wanted to do it - don't be disheartened by this score. Sometimes you kill a shot, sometimes you really do extremely well. One of your shots (Edison's Gift) is one of my 3 favorite shots on this site - keep shooting!

faith in chaosby stephanComment by stephan: Focus, focus, focus. It's always the same people complain about ;-) I liked the fuzziness.
I understand that the "Pi" connection couldn't be understood by many, but I thought that the image would be interesting to some more people. Seems that I was wrong. :-/
Anyway, thanks to the people who commented and said that they like the photo.
P.S.: As described in the photographers comments, the image is colour inverted and not infrared. Message edited by author 2003-04-30 07:18:28. |

faith in chaosby stephanComment by Swashbuckler: Interesting use of (I think) inverse black and white. The ant shows up very well, but some of the detail seems to be lost. (Calling this Albino Ant might have confused some of these issues for the better) 6 Rob the Swash |
