Ons Islandby lsmartComment by e301: On the right lines, certainly. I find the foreround light a bit flat and uninviting - I think you could have used more contrast in that area quite happily. The composition also lacks something - there's almost a line of elements directly up the centre of the frame, and maybe if you could have framed this toa llow the gaze to sweep through the shot, rather than to be led directly up it, it would be more satisfying. Perhaps also the horizon is a bit too far up in the shot? The light in the sky and the clouds there seems inviting, but one's eye is so close to the edge by the time one sees it ... But good work, all the same. |

Ons Islandby lsmartComment by Bran-O-Rama: I think you could've cropped a little off the bottom as that much rock in the foreground is a little unnecessary. I would've also divided the image into thirds, consisting of foreground, middleground, and background/sky. I like the hues in the sky but unfortunately, the rocks and light reflecting off the water are pretty drab. A polarizer might've helped this shot. |

Ons Islandby lsmartComment by MrAkamai: This is an amazing perspective photo. Love the rocks in the foreground and the scenery in general. I do have issues with the big hill in the upper right corner, some minor focusing issues and the sky. The hill just feels out of place in a scene such as this. It would have been much better without that. The sky has a funny light purple tint and looks odd. Overall great photo. |

Sight from the castleby lsmartComment by graphicfunk: From the Critique Club:
A beautiful and delicate image which meets the challenge head on. The sparse sprouts in the foreground give this image great delicasy. The composition is superb and satisfying and indeed it imparts a soothing feel. A lot of the beauty inherent in this image is due to the clouds masking the sun, however, here is where the image shies off perfection. This is another difficult shot to execute because we are going from the lower zone, skipping 7 and 8 and into the 9 and 10th.
This spells a bit of trouble for its final execution. Yet the photograph has enough quality to remain as is, like those times when the sun is suddenly blocked and we go through the transition of regaining the light value balance.
To conclude, the image meets the challenge, it is above average and its only defect os the ultra bright sky contrasting against a very subdued green. If I had no knowledge of curves, I would have certainly used levels to bring a little more luminosity to the shadowed area. Rated from 1 to 10 I give it 8+. Worked over with curves it can easily attain a 10. Nice work. dan |

Sight from the castleby lsmartComment by Beagleboy: Great application for the challenge. Nice panoramic view. Too bad the foregroud is so dark. Proper lighting with intermitent clouds like that can be very tricky. Nice job. |

Sight from the castleby lsmartComment by C-town driver: Perfect use of deep DOF in this shot. I like the detail and composition here. The land seems a little dark though. Maybe adjusting levels may have helped? |
