Through the Treesby charmayneComment by e301: Great shame about the sky here - would really like to see that kept more under control, especially as you've done such a good job with the tonality in the rest of the image. Is there fill-flash here? There's a slight cut-out feel to the foreground trees that hints at that, and it's very well controlled if it is. I'd personally have underexposed - or rather exposed for the sky, and tried to bring back the trees and grass using curves or levels; failing that, an obvious situation for a graduated ND filter. Thatweird sky loses you a couple of points, i fear. |

Through the Treesby charmayneComment by emorgan49: Nice camera work, would have been good for the deep DOF challenge as well. i like the contrast of the bark to the grass. however neither the tree trunks nor the scene they frame is ver interesting. I bet that tree in the center is lovely, if you could just cut down al the surrounding foliage the phot would be much stronger. |

Through the Treesby charmayneComment by Bran-O-Rama: I find this boring to look at. The centered tree (if that is the subject) is uninteresting. The texture of the bark of the foreground trees are much more attention grabbing. |

Through the Treesby charmayneComment by movieman: What's the subject? Yeah, there's framing, but what are the trees framing?
I don't think you can really have a good photo without a subject. |

Beware of the Witch in the Woods!by charmayneComment by waterlilies: There's a strange separation between the toy witch and the real background. It looks as though the background has been exceptionally dodged to give it that faded-out effect. I agree that adds some fantasy or whimsy to it, but it makes the toy witch stick out like a sore thumb. You might try burning her (in photoshop, not, like, at the stake) :) to make her look more realistic. |
