Stationingby KylieComment by dsidwell: Once again, your geometry is very nicely communicated here. This appears to be a negative image of some sort? I might be tempted, again, to crop so that our attention is on those interesting diagonal squared windows. I love that odd shadow up at top left, too. Nice echo. |

Streaming Blueby KylieComment by dsidwell: I don't mind darker images, and I do think you've found interesting geometry here. The colors enhance the geometry well. I might be tempted to crop the bottom off and focus our attention to the interesting diagonal lines and deep blues in the upper 3/4. Anyway, I really like this. |

Majestyby KylieComment by dsidwell: Like Jason noted, I also really love the dappled light. I have had only limited success with dappled light. THe rich colors are nice, too. I recently took shots of a similar looking tree and couldn't get a really fantastic shot. I plan on going back and trying different angles, perspectives, proximities, etc. just to explore it and see what I can capture. You might want to consider this as well. To me, the most interesting aspect of the tree, besides the light, is the contrast between the wonderful roots with their lovely lines and the rich greenery around them. It looks like a Morton Bay Fig? Anyway, this is a nice shot. But may as well keep exploring! |

Bell Curveby KylieComment by dsidwell: Hi Kylie,
I would treat this like a b/w shot; it looks that way to me! Perhaps you'll want to shift it over deliberately. I love the line. Really fine work! I love stark, minimalist images like this, and this one is done quite well. |

Standing Proudby KylieComment by cghubbell: Great choice of perspective in this shot. Emphasizing the roots with the wider angle makes a great dramatic effect. If you could recompose the shot such that the background picnic bench were behind the trunk it would remove a distraction from the shot. It also looks like this shot was hand-held vs. taken from a tripod as there is consistent blurring throughout the image. Also seems to be a slight blue color cast which could be from having the wrong white balance setting, or a confused auto WB sensor. You can usually clean this up in the levels/curves tool of your editor. |

Biking in Yosemiteby KylieComment by cghubbell: Beautiful shot! If I were to make a suggestion it would be to either fully include the road on the left, or recompose the shot entirely such that your left border was the wood fence. Having it half in, half out is somewhat distracting. I love the colors in this - well done! |

Secretsby KylieComment by cghubbell: If you could re-take this image when the sun was bit lower in the sky you could avoid some of the minor blown-out highlights in the sky and on the trunk. The gate in the left is also an interesting subject which could be more complimentary if the perspecitve shifted it slightly to be more visible. Great subject - I bet many people would walk right by without thinking to stop and capture this tree. |

LAby KylieComment by geewhy: Wonderful shot, I love the composition and colour contrasts.
Would be interesting to see a version without the vertical building on the left to compare. |

Ribbonby KylieComment by BobsterLobster: Stunning shot... not quite sure the current location of the shadow complements your composition, perhaps it might be worth going back and shooting when the shadow is in a different place? |
